In this chapter, Brady decides to help Mrs. DiAngelo with work that has to be done for the house. One day, when Brady cam over, he was asked to clean the boathouse. After a while from clearing out the boathouse, Brady finds the drill reflecting in the sun. With red flecks surrounding the drill, Brady soon comes to conclusions. The red flecks reminded Brady of the kayak incident. Thinking back from memories, once Brady gave Digger an idea to drill holes in a canoe to make it sink. Once realizing that Digger has a strong dislike against the DiAngelos, he finds out that Digger might have something to do with the kayak, and that trouble is coming his way. I think that Brady will talk to his parents that he found the drill and what to do about the red flecks, or I think he will confront Digger about the drill and if it was really him who did something to the kayak. After finding the drill, I think that sooner or later Brady will find the suspect.
In this chapter, Brady explains to Mrs. DiAngelo what is needed to start a butterfly garden. A butterfly garden needs blue, yellow, and purple colored flowers. It also needs flat rocks so that so they can warm up before they take off. And last, a low lying source of water is a great thing to have to attract the butterflies. These things symbolize Amanda, Brady's dead sister, because Mrs. Parks made it in remembrance of her. It brought happy and positive vibes to her despite the sorrow from Amanda's death.
In this chapter, JT and Digger avoided Brady at school. I believe that they are hiding something from Brady and they might have done something about the red kayak situation. At the end of the chapter, Brady found out that JT lied to him when he said that they couldn't hangout because he was busy. If I were Brady, I would be very disappointed at my friends and I wouldn't trust them anymore. I would confront my friend about her lying and I would make her admit that she was lying. I would definitely not give her a second chance and I would trust her ever again.
Brady and his mother maintain a butterfly garden in their yard in honor of Amanda, Brady's dead sister. But still, Mrs. Parks got rid of everything else that was Amanda's. I believe that she got rid of everything because she was so depressed when she died, and she didn't want to bring back memories of those hard times for her. About five years ago, my grandmother died, and my whole family was very depressed and sad. But, instead of getting rid of her belongings, each family member went to her house and took some of her belongings to keep with them. I think this was a great thing to do because she was not completely gone, when you still had a piece of her left (her belonging). Clearly, this is the method my family uses because it makes us feel more comfortable with our loved ones who passed away. Even to this day, my house is full of her favorite things, and it always reminds me that she will always be with us, in our hearts.
In this chapter, Brady finds out that Ben died. Brady was full of emotions, and once I was too. Once I was really stressed, sad, and nervous before I had a test, and I was not prepared at all to take it. Then after seeing my score, I felt very happy and grateful. In a couple of hours my moods totally changed just like Brady's emotions. His emotions were all over the place because his mother unfortunately told him that his beloved friend Ben, had died. Towards the end of the chapter, Brady decided to go out to the water, just by himself, and look out at the river where he rescued Ben. While standing on the boat, the smell of the damp grass surrounding him, Brady started to blame himself for Ben's death. He felt like a hero for rescuing Ben, but only in a few hours, he turned into failure.
I believe that the news article missed many important facts that happened in the event. First Brady was not alone in the boat, because Tilly was also with him. I also believed that they should have found out about the truth, that the three boys knew the water was dangerous to go kayaking that morning, and they should have warned the DiAngelos. That evidence had a great effect on the whole event and Ben and the wife wouldn't even have been in this trouble, if the kids didn't warn them. Clearly, the news article was missing important information and it was dramatically written.
At the end of chapter five, Brady stopped his boat in the middle of the Corsica River to pray to God. This was out of the ordinary for him because he wasn't the type of person who prays very much. He felt very sad and had tears in his eyes because it just hit him about what happened. Fate worked in favor because even though the three kids didn't warn the DiAngelos, Brady was luckily able to find Ben. This event had changed him forever, because he straddled the invisible line between life and death that runs down our lives every second, with every breath we take. And, clearly Brady pulled Ben from one side to the other.
When Brady, J.T., and Digger were waiting for their ride, they noticed that Mr. DiAngelo had gone kayaking in the bay. They all knew that it was dangerous that day, but Brady was the only one who wanted to warn Mr. DiAngelo. Because of peer pressure, Brady held back and didn't say anything because he friends didn't want to. When Brady noticed the direction of the tides and current, he knew what was going to happen. I think that if Brady stood up for himself and warned Mr. DiAngelo, there would have been a better chance of safety and survival. Also, if Mrs. DiAngelo and Ben didn't go for a little ride after her husband, they wouldn't have gone in so much trouble. I strongly think that as a parent, Mrs. DiAngelo should not have listened to his son, who is probably only a couple years old, and she should have done what was best for both of them no matter how Ben felt.
Parks changed his jobs because being a carpenter had a larger income. This is because his workday was cut from 14 hours to 8 hours, and the crabs were getting scarce. Also, the governor took away a month from the crab season, which caused his family to have some financial issues.
Friendship Friendship is a state of mutual trust and support between people. It is when you share love, trust, and kindness with others and you spend time with them. Friendship means to me that you are in a relationship with someone that loves and cares for you, and you feel needed by them. The characteristics of a friend is caring, love, kindness, trust, support, happiness, laughter, and loyalty.
